American Charm publishes guides and stories about American towns, food, travel, and everyday life. These standards apply to everything we publish.
Accuracy and sourcing
We research every article using primary and reputable sources: official town, state, and federal websites, historical societies, museums, academic research, and established news organizations. We link to our sources so readers can verify what we write. We do not present opinion or speculation as fact.
Places and businesses
When we recommend a place, we confirm that it exists and is open as of the time of writing, and we name its town and county. Hours, prices, and ownership change, so we encourage readers to check with a business before visiting. We do not accept payment for including a place in an article.
Experience
When a writer has personally visited a place, the article says so. Guides that are based on research rather than a visit are written as guides, not as first-hand accounts. Reader stories are labeled as reader stories.
Editorial review
A human editor reviews every article before it is published for accuracy, clarity, and fairness. Articles about laws, health, or money get an extra check against official sources.
Use of AI tools
We may use software tools, including AI, to help with research and drafting. Every article is checked, edited, and approved by a person before it is published, and our editors are responsible for everything that appears on the site.
Photos
We use our own photos, licensed stock photography, and images from public archives such as Wikimedia Commons, credited according to their licenses.
Advertising and independence
American Charm is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we write. Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labeled. We keep ads to a reasonable level so they don’t get in the way of reading.
Corrections
If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date. To report an error, please use our contact page.
Updates
We review and update older articles so the information stays current. Updated articles show the date they were last revised.
